Explorer Camp revolves around a range of fascinating, exciting, and stimulating topics. These topics are especially designed to challenge, absorb, and enrich each camper. The camp is designed for boys and girls Grades 2-8 (ages 6.5 - 14). Children will be divided into groups according to age and enrollment.

The success of Explorer Camp is undoubtedly the quality of our teaching staff. All are highly successful young teachers, educators and motivators who are selected from the area's top colleges and universities. They are complemented by our experts and guest speakers during special events.

The philosophy of Explorers Camp is one of experimentation and experience. Children will learn through a complete "hands-on" approach, highlighting exploration and critical analysis.

The learning environment that Explorer Camp creates allows for personal expression and creativity. There are constant opportunities and limitless challenges, all of which take place under the constant guidance of our expert teaching staff who will nurture, enlighten, and motivate your children towards new and interesting goals.

In a typical week of Explorer Camp a child will participate in the creation of film presentations, newspaper articles, musical productions and other specialty topics. The schedule is flexible and will be altered to accommodate theme days, guests and group presentations.

Forms required prior to your child attending camp are:

* Health Assessment Record form - Connecticut law requires a current, confidential medical form completed by a physician. A copy of a school medical form/health assessment or any physical that is dated within the last two years is acceptable as long as we also receive a copy of immunizations with dates for our medical records.

* Emergency Contacts & Authorization for Camper Pick-up form

* Global Waiver Agreement form

* Authorization for the Administration of Medication by School, Child Care, and Youth Camp Personnel form - If medication needs to be administered to a camper during the day, please complete one "Authorization for the Administration of Medication" form per medication, and submit to our office.

* Action Plan for Allergies if Anaphylactic/Care Plan Form for Asthma


These forms must be submitted to ECC by June 1st. If we are not in receipt of completed, current medical forms, per state licensing, your child will not be able to attend the camp. EXPLORERS CAMPERS ONLY!


Your child will travel to COMPO Beach or another local venue (Weather Permitting). The Bus will leave the ECC at approximately 9:15am and return just in time for lunch. Our counselors will keep a watchful eye on the children as they engage in swimming, beach sports and games while enjoying the sun. Please make sure they have applied plenty of Sun Block at home to protect them from sunburn. Our counselors do not apply this during camp so please make sure they are protected. If you prefer your child to stay at the ECC, than we will have other activities facilitated by our counselors that will be run onsite to entertain them until the other group returns. (The ECC must meet the minimum number of sign-ups necessary to run the beach trips. Please register in advance.)
